MolkereiForum® 2023
THEME “SUSTAINABILITY & CONTROLLING”
On November 16th and 17th 2023
Follow-up Report
Together with the LfL Bavarian State Research Center for Agriculture, we have organized the Dairy Forum for the fourth time on November 16th and 17th, 2023.
It was again a complete success.
Focus on sustainability and business administration
After two exciting days full of discussions, presentations and the exchange of ideas, the Dairy Forum 2023 has come to an end. The event was all about the connection between sustainability and business administration.
The forum was opened by the head of the LVFZ Kempten, Dr. Langer, and the President of the LfL, Mr. Sedlmayer, gave a welcoming speech. The event was kicked off by Mr. Fröhlich from GKC – Dr. Öttl & Partner AG.
Day 1: Transparency in the dairy industry and business integration
The focus of the first day was on the transparency of data flows in the dairy industry. The challenges and opportunities in agriculture were highlighted and innovative concepts for digital transformation in dairies were presented. The focus was on the integration of operational, laboratory and process data into business management, and it was shown how integrated energy and environmental cost accounting can help companies understand and optimize ecological and economic impacts. Practical examples of how the speed of decision-making can be improved on the basis of process cost accounting with the “Faster Planning” module rounded off the first day.
At the end of the first day, the importance of sustainable employee management, which plays a crucial role in the successful implementation of sustainable processes in companies, was emphasized in a very entertaining way.
Day 2: Cybersecurity, green hydrogen and plant engineering
The second day focused on two central topics. First, cybersecurity in production networks was addressed in order to show companies ways in which they can protect their operations from potential threats. It was also discussed whether the dairy cow is really considered a “climate killer” or whether a circular economy protects the climate more than, for example, a purely plant-based diet. The forum then presented ways in which green hydrogen can be used as an alternative energy source in the dairy industry to reduce CO2 emissions and ensure a sustainable energy supply. Finally, optimization potential through new plant technologies was presented.
The Dairy Forum 2023 was a broad platform for the exchange of knowledge and ideas between experts, company representatives and interested parties. By successfully combining sustainability and business administration, innovative approaches could be found and discussed that enable companies to achieve long-term economic stability while having a positive impact on the environment.
The organizing team would like to thank all speakers, sponsors and participants for their commitment and contributions.
FELIX® ENERGIE- & ENVIRONMENTAL CALCULATION:
Save Resources - Reduce Costs
Do you know the environmental balance sheet of your company? Where are the hot spots and what immediate measures can be taken to realize quick wins?
What effects does CO2-tax have on product calculation, on contribution margins and what are the optimization approaches to save resources and reduce costs?
How does the business plan affect the environmental balance?
What happens if sales and production volumes change?
Raw materials, supplies, electricity, steam, water, cleaning agents, losses, waste, etc. have one thing in common: they are relevant for both costs and environment.
FELIX® energy- and environmental calculation is available for planning, simulation, and target-actual calculation.
The simulation enables you to calculate different optimization scenarios and display environmental, cost, and result effects in parallel.

FELIX® Energy and environmental calculation in use
Combining Economy and Ecology
The calculation of all environmentally relevant energy and material flows along the value chain is carried out with differentiated quantity and process calculation.
In order to quantify the environmental impact, the assessment is based on influencing factors that are relevant for your business (e.g., greenhouse gas emissions, recycling rates, proportions of renewable and fossil energies, etc.).
For the presentation of results, the environmental impact factors are allocated to each individual product via processes and cost centers.
The combination with traditional cost accounting allows for a parallel consideration of economic and ecological effects.
The results can be applied to, for example, in input-output balances, proof of carbon footprints, energy balances and in your company’s sustainability report.
Material Flow, Process & Energy Analysis
When introducing the FELIX® energy and environmental calculation, we ensure that both the transparency requirements are met and the resource efficiency is increased.
OUR APPROACH
- Coarse-grained analysis (hot spots and influencing factors)
- Identification of opportunities to improve environmental performance and cost reduction
- Conception & structuring of energy and environmental calculation
- Analysis of material flow, processes, and energy (inputs, consumptions, losses, waste, outputs, etc.)
- System architecture and setup, introduction phase, testing & tuning, go-live
- Aftercare & optimization
We have many years of experience in analyses of raw materials, material and loss analyses, as well as in optimization of processes and energy consumption. For result verification, meaningful benchmarks are available.

Digitalization
We support the implementation of digitalization solutions and can refer to successful reference projects:
- Integrated SCM production planning and control processes across all planning periods and production stages with integrated quality assurance and efficiency controlling.
- Automated production planning from rough, detailed, up to plant and process order planning including planning of material supply and laboratory sampling.
- Dairy Quick Planning and Integrated Dairy Business Planning with raw material, component- and co-product accounting.
- Industry-specific planning and controlling KPI system with visually supported transparency.
- Process consulting for the integration of technical and business planning, management, and controlling processes.
Using Digitalization – Mastering Challenges
Volatile raw material and sales markets, diverse raw materials, flexible raw material valuation, transparency, sustainability, demographic change, among many others are becoming increasingly challenging for companies, both now and in the future.
Digitalization offers the opportunity to increase efficiency, transparency, and, in particular, the quality of planning, control, and information processes.
